Lampard confirms line for Liverpool match

 Frank Lampard has provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of the club’s fast approaching meeting with Liverpool.


Blues back in action

Chelsea, along with the majority of the Premier League’s clubs, of course got their 2020/21 campaign underway last weekend.


The Londoners made the trip to the Amex Stadium, for a meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion.


And, when all was said and done, despite the hosts having put up a stern fight, Chelsea’s quality proved too much.


Goals from Jorginho and Kurt Zouma, either side of a Reece James thunderbolt, guided Lampard’s men to a 3-1 opening day victory.

For obvious reasons, though, the Blues look set for a considerably tougher 90 minutes this weekend.


Chelsea will welcome Liverpool to Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening, for a high-profile top-6 clash.


The Premier League champions also got their season off to a winning start, albeit just, courtesy of a 4-3 downing of Marcelo Bielsa’s recently-promoted Leeds United.


As such, as outlined above, ahead of his side’s meeting with Jurgen Klopp’s men, Frank Lampard this afternoon provided a fitness update on his squad.


The news, though, was not exactly positive from a Pensioners perspective.


Lampard confirmed that summer signings Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva, all of whom missed out versus Brighton last Monday, will once again be absent this weekend.



US international Christian Pulisic is also yet to recover full fitness, though Timo Werner, who picked up a knock in Chelsea’s season opener, will be available to face Liverpool:
