The Consequences of Disobedience and the Power of Repentance In 1 Samuel 15:30-31, we see the consequences of disobedience and the importance of repentance. King Saul, despite being instructed by God to completely destroy the Amalekites and their livestock, chose to disobey and spare the best of the sheep and oxen. This act of disobedience led to God rejecting Saul as king over Israel. Saul's mistake was not in failing to obey God completely, but in obeying partially. He obeyed God's instructions to attack the Amalekites, but he failed to obey the instruction to completely destroy them and their livestock. This partial obedience is a danger that we as Christians must be aware of. We must not pick and choose which instructions to obey, but rather obey God's instructions fully and completely.
