THE REASON I QUOTE SCRIPTURES SO EASILY IS BECAUSE I 'EAT' THEM NOT CRAM THEM - Bishop David Oyedepo
THE REASON I QUOTE SCRIPTURES SO EASILY IS BECAUSE I 'EAT' THEM NOT CRAM THEM
- Bishop David Oyedepo
For everyone who has listened to Bishop Oyedepo preach, one thing you can't miss noticing is how well he quotes portions of scriptures by heart with precise reference. Another thing you will also notice if you listen to him for a while are his stories of his encounters with God and his personal experiences which are recounted over and over with dates and unchanging details. While ministering during one of his recent Sunday sermons, he shared the secret behind his sound mind.
He said "You are too young to be scratching your head about what happened last year. Too young! I tell the stories of 50 years ago precisely today by this grace. I can tell where it happened. I can tell most of the time the exact time it happened. You have been hearing these testimonies forever and they haven't changed. I decree the quickening of your mental faculty. Jacob was still sound at 143. He called his children and proclaimed patriarchal blessing upon them. Clarity of thought, clarity of sound. You are just about 40 and you are musing. You can't tell where you were just last year. The Word says we have the mind of Christ. Church Gist. The Wow mind! Unlimited gigabytes with capacity to store anything of value. One journalist came into our Church years ago in Kaduna, he said what attracted him was that every story I tell in every service is the same. He said he watched it and he saw the content, the language, the posture are the same. That's how that journalist came to Christ. Most journalists were atheists then. They take pride in being free thinkers. When I don't know the date, I will tell you I don't know the date but I will tell you the month."
He told the congregation of two instances he ministered with any notes to the awe of his listeners, "We had two experiences, one was in Ife. I was at the University of Ife (Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife) for a meeting and they did not consider my height. The pulpit was too high, the light in the hall was dim. I couldn't see my note. I couldn't read anything. After the meeting, one of the young academics met me and asked me if I cram scriptures. He said he saw I quoted 62 scriptures without looking at the Bible. Church Gist. I told him I don't cram scriptures, I eat scriptures. Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and they became the joy and rejoicing of my heart... (Jeremiah 15:16). We were in India, my son Steve Ogah was with me, and they needed to print some things out for me. In the hotel, there were no printers anywhere. I said I was running late so if he prints it he should meet me there. Before he was done, we had finished the service. I repeated verbatim everything in that note.
- Whatever makes you a second rate person in terms of soundness is cleared off today.
- You will begin to make sound decisions from now on."
